Urgency level 3

Danger level 1

Ticks are mainly found on the side of the head behind the ears, on the neck and nape and on the back. Unfilled they are about 2-3mm small and brown to black. When they are soaked, they reach a size of a kernel of maize and resemble a small gray bag. As such they are mostly found in the coat of the dog.

Ticks drop from trees or bushes onto their host - in this case the dog - crawl to a suitable place and get their teeth into the skin. Then they suck the blood until they are completely filled and can fall down again. Afterwards, they live up to one year living on the blood meal.

Ticks are removed.
